Thai 7-Eleven Stores
November 13th, 20067-Eleven Stores are everywhere in Bangkok. I’m not axaturating here. They are often within a block or two of each other. And you will fine yourself visiting them often.

In addition to the usual items you would expect in a modern convenience store, you can pay bills, such as phone and Internet. You can also buy minutes for your cellular phone. And of course, there is a good selection of microwavable meals. They will even heat the meals for you.
The stores are modern, air conditioned, well maintained, and open 24/7. They all have an automatic sliding glass door for entry and exit. The staff is fast, efficient, and well mannered, but then all Thais are well mannered.
It does take a little getting used to shopping at a 7-Eleven, or any grocery store, as most of the products are in Thai. Thus, you won’t know if you are buying shrimp cup of soup, or pork. The pictures rarely help.
There is one thing I don’t understand yet. When they ring you up on the register, it always shows a price higher than you owe. Once you give them the money, they hit some keys and the correct price displays. One of these days I’ll find out what’s up with that.
